Description:

Like many speech-language pathology departments across the country, Vanderbilt University Medical Center's (VUMC) outpatient rehabilitation clinic rapidly expanded its caseload to provide cognitive rehabilitation for individuals with PASC in 2020.  Now, almost three years after the establishment of the VUMC Adult Post-Acute COVID Clinic (APACC), we describe our experiences as clinicians and explore the research that has been published to date on the cognitive impairments and emerging treatment practices for individuals with PASC.

Learner Outcomes:

The learner will be able to:

  1. Summarize research to date on prevalence, potential mechanisms, and descriptions of cognitive symptoms associated with PASC.
  2. Describe the evaluation and treatment practices for individuals with PASC at one outpatient rehabilitation clinic: VUMC's Pi Beta Phi Rehabilitation Institute (PBPRI).
  3. Compare the practices of PBPRI with those of other recognized cognitive rehabilitation programs.
