1. Tell us about the newly-named Development Committee and its role.

The Development Committee — formerly the Finance Committee — is the committee responsible for generating revenue for the Academy from external sources.  Our primary role is to secure corporate sponsorships for the Annual Meeting, but we also are involved in other revenue-generating activities, such as the recent ANCDS merchandise sale.

2. Tell us about your connection with ANCDS and your desire to lead this committee.

I am currently an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. I have been a member of ANCDS since 2015. I first became involved in ANCDS when I was a Ph.D. student and formally joined when I started my first faculty position as a way to make professional connections and have access to cutting-edge research and professional development opportunities. I joined what was then the Finance Committee shortly after and began chairing it a couple of years later. I enjoy working on the committee to help increase ANCDS’s visibility among relevant companies and to help support the organization’s financial health so that it can carry out its mission. After being an ANCDS member for a couple of years, I was invited to join the Finance Committee and was glad to accept. I initially saw volunteering as a great way to meet other members (which it is!), but I have also found that I really enjoy playing a role in supporting the mission of the organization.

4. Is there any unique plug from the committee you’d like to share?

We’re always looking for new members with creative ideas for fundraising and obtaining corporate sponsors. If
